WILDWOOD, MO (KTVI - FOX2now.com) - St. Louis County police say a man they described as "distraught" late Thursday has turned himself in to authorities. James Hardy, 33, allegeldy had a rifle when police responded to talk to him in Wildwood. That's when police say he approached officers with the rifle and they fired shots at Hardy. He took off into the woods.

For several hours, Highway 109 between Shepard Road and Highway BA was closed in both directions. Police took Hardy into custody when police stopped a vehicle in the intersection of 109 and 100. He was taken into custody just after 10 a.m., 10 hours after the incident began.
