NORTH ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI-FOX2now.com) -
A horrific crime in north Saint Louis leaves a woman in a wheelchair unconscious. The victim was afraid she might never go home again. Last Monday night, Nov. 9, in an alley near Bayard and Walton in North City, a man who first posed as a Good Samaritan suddenly turned into Angie Brown's vicious attacker.
"I'm hurt. I don't feel safe. I still feel helpless," says Brown.
Angie Brown's usually quiet uneventful life suddenly turned into a horrible nightmare.
"He had to hit me with his fist real hard."
Angie confined to a wheelchair for nearly thirty years with rheumatoid arthritis was looking for a family friend when the battery on her wheel chair died. Her attacker first said he would help her but instead pushed her into an alley, punched her, then stole her purse and most of her jewelry.
Brown says, "He hit me in my head. He knocked me out. When I woke up I was lying on the ground and my chair was about five feet from where I was laying."
The robber also swiped a gold charm bracelet given to her by her father who recently passed away.
"What I want is my daddy's bracelet back."
Sylvia Danner is Angie's sister. Every day she's been out searching for the man who left her sister for dead.
"My sister couldn't push herself up because she doesn't have enough strength. We thank God he didn't kill her."
Saint Louis City Police are also looking for the man who attacked Angie and they believe he lives in the neighborhood.
