MARYLAND HEIGHTS, MO (FOX2now.com)—
The holidays are a very difficult time for many families. The "100 Neediest Cases" help the less fortunate in St. Louis. This weekend, a special art contest will help you get to know some of those in need. Suzanne Struemph and Laurie Martin are both members of the executive committee and appeared on FOX 2 News in the Morning to discuss the organization history and goals.100 Neediest Cases Art Contest

The 100 Neediest Cases actually began back in 1922, and it was then known as The Christmas Program, and not sponsored by either the United Way or the Post-Dispatch.
About $400 was collected then, and distributed along with gift baskets. We've come a long way! We are not a member of the United Way, but they are kind enough to give us office space, along with many other expenses not picked up by the Post-Dispatch. 100% of the donations go to the cases, which this year are over 14,000.
