Saving the World One Discovery at a Time

In 1901, John F. Queeny invested $1,500 into the company we now know today as Monsanto. Not too long ago, Creve Coeur used to be a farming community that sprung up from Olive Boulevard, formally called Olive Street Road. This road followed an Indian trail that went from the Mississippi to the Missouri River. Creve Coeur was one of the communities that grew alongside the road. In addition to Creve Coeur's rich history, it has grown into a prosperous community of well established businesses, serene parks and lovely homes. There is plenty to see and do in Creve Coeur. Creve Coeur has nine different parks including a dog park. One of the largest parks is Millennium Park which is about 25 acres and has playgrounds, barbecue grills, soccer and baseball fields, as well as picnic areas. There is plenty of summer fun as well with a wide variety of summer camps for the kids from grade school musical camp to a mad science camp.

The history behind Creve Coeur- Creve Coeur, which means broken heart in French, is born from a legend of a nearby lake. In the legend an Indian princess falls in love with a French fur trapper. Sadly, the love was not mutual, so she jumped from a cliff over looking the Creve Coeur Lake and it is said that the lake then transformed into a broken heart. The community of Creve Coeur uses the broken heart as a symbol now.

Now Creve Coeur is 11.36 square miles and has a population of 16,759. Creve Coeur is made up of mostly private schools: two private colleges, five private primary schools and two public school districts. There are also fifteen places of worship. The home value index in Creve Coeur is 333,534.
