ST. LOUIS (AP) — A southwestern Illinois man is accused of robbing a bank by pretending he had a bomb.
A federal indicted returned against 49-year-old Mario Wright of Fairmont City accuses him in the Aug. 8 holdup of the Legends Bank in Bland, Mo.
Authorities say a robber wearing a baseball cap and dark sunglasses entered the bank and demanded money after setting a box on the counter and saying it was a bomb.
Police say the box turned out to be empty.
Wright's federal public defender hasn't returned a message left Friday seeking comment.
The robbery count carries a possible 20 years in prison and $250,000 in fines.
