WASHINGTON, Mo. (AP) — The Missouri Department of Transportation says rehabilitation work is on schedule and should be completed by mid-December on the Highway 47 bridge over the Missouri River at Washington.
It can't happen soon enough for people in the eastern Missouri town. The bridge work is causing frequent traffic tie-ups.
MoDOT Area Engineer Judy Wagner says the goal of the work is the extend the life of the bridge. She acknowledges several complaints from residents about disruption to businesses due to the closing of some nearby streets. But she says it is the only way to ensure efficient traffic flow over the bridge during the rehab work.
