GREENVILLE, IL (KTVI-FOX2now.com) - In this You Paid For It report, a tiny Illinois town with big ideas for spending taxpayers money. A Greenville, IL town official gets a trip to South America on your dime and it's a deal the town is not anxious to talk about. Investigator Elliott Davis headed to Bond County to get the low down on this deal.

Greenville's assistant city manager, Lisa Stephens, takes a trip to South America that cost you plenty. Stephens says the trip was to help drum up business for Greenville.

Stephens canceled a scheduled interview with You Paid For It. Her boss, City Manager David Willey talked with Elliott Davis on the phone but wished to make not comment when Davis showed up with a cameraman.

The trip was part of a trade mission organized by SIU, but this 12 day trip to drum up business wasn't cheap. You sent the assistant city manager to Brazil, Argentina, Chile, and Peru. The trip cost Greenville $6,216.21 for airfare and travel and $6,043 for hotels and meals.
