WEBSTER GROVES, MO (KTVI - FOX2now.com) - In this You Paid For It report, some taxpayers are ready to throw the book at the Webster Groves Library. The library bought a $499,000 house for an expansion they didn't need after all and now they're stuck with it.

When asked why the library bought the house, Tom Cooper with the Webster Groves Library Board said, "They bought it because they were looking at a good way to expand the library and they thought that the property would be a good place to go."

But there was one big problem with this deal: no planning was done to see if the expansion was needed. The library finally did do a study after it bought the nearly half million dollar house.

"And it turns out we're really not going to need that. The expansion will be more modest. Pretty much within the foot print of this building and we won't need that property," says Cooper.

Webster Groves is now trying to sell the property. So far no takers for what the library is asking.
